Care & Safety

PLEASE CAREFULLY READ ALL CANDLE CARE INSTRUCTIONS PROVIDED. FAILURE TO FOLLOW THE INSTRUCTIONS COULD RESULT IN A FIRE HAZARD OR INJURY.
LANTERN CARE INSTRUCTIONS ARE IN THE BOX OR FIND THEM UNDER FAQ'S
- Remove plastic wrapping before lighting the candle.
- Never leave a burning candle unattended or around young children
- If you follow the instructions our pillar candles can be used as a tea light holder.
- This cannot be guaranteed due to there being many factors out of our control whilst you burn your pillar. The most important point is maintaining a wax wall close to 1cm & leaving aprox 1cm of wax at the base before reaching the metal wick holder.
- Do not put the pillar candles in direct sunlight or under strong indoor lights as they will discolour.
- Our candles have NO nasty, toxic additives like UV filters or whiteners
- Always hold the candle from the base and not the wax.
- Ensure the candle is placed on a flat, stable surface.
- Trim the wick to roughly 10mm for optimal candle performance. Burning a tall wick will cause uneven burning, and possible leakage. If the wick is to short it can be drowned in the wax.
- For the initial light, allow the wax pool reach at least 1cm from the rim (or as close to that as possible) then extinguish. Repeat this for every burn allowing at least 2hrs but no longer than 3hrs.
- Do not let the wax wall get thinner than 1cm or the candle can collapse or leak.
- Do not burn the pillar candles all the way down to expose the metal wick holder as it will get hot and can possibly weaken the wax wall which will then leak. It is also possible for the base to crack.
- Never place your candle near or next to anything flammable or anything that can catch fire.
- Candles are sensitive to temperature and light. Store your candles in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight, dust and fluorescent lights.
- Ensure the wax pool is free of wick trimmings, matches and debris at all times.
- Always burn candles in a well-ventilated room away from drafts.
- Extinguish a candle if it repeatedly smokes, flickers, or the flame becomes too high. Let the candle cool, then trim the wick to the correct height.
- If you notice your candle wick leaning to one side, it could be that the wick is too long, causing a large, flickering and unstable flame. Extinguish the flame, let the candle cool, trim the wick down to roughly 10mm and relight. If the wick is leaning to one side it may cause the candle to burn off centre, which may cause wax to leak over the side.
